The Kanimar Range
Project Kanimar is based in the Irular community on the East coast of Tamil Nadu. Aari embroidery is something a lot of people in the community practised since their childhood. Then they picked up hand needle style embroidery. What stands out in this series we are launching is their sea animal inspired work. And absolutely adorable is their adapation of chikku kolams using glass beads to represent the dotted patterns. We are humbled to be launching the Aari collection, where each piece is a story of craft and survival.
