Beeswax Soaps & Rubs

In the forests of Anapantham and Vazhachal, not far from Thrissur in Kerala, indigenous people harvest honey from hives on steep rock faces and giant trees, and beeswax is a by-product. Women from Malayar women’s collectives at Karikkadav and Kallichitra process a range of personal care products using this beeswax.

The soap recipe uses beeswax which is famed for its anti-allergen and anti-fungal properties. Beeswax is high in Vit A that keeps skin hydrated. The soap uses coconut oil and no palm oil, as a commitment to protecting orangutan habitats. Pristine rain forests in Indonesia are cut down for palm oil plantations. Time to stand up and make that statement against palm oil.

The soaps are free of parabens, sulphates and phthalates. Yes, safe for your skin and environment friendly.

Moisturisers and Balms

Our lip balms, grapefruit moisturizer, pain balm and insect repellant are a simple combination of olive oil, beeswax and a careful selection of essential oils. No nasty chemicals, colour or artificial fragrances. No frills.

The Vanilla Kokkum Body Butter has an additional ingredient – a highly sought-after plant butter called Kokkum butter that comes from a women’s group in Uttara Kannada. Kokkum butter is rich in anti-oxidants and can rejuvenate damaged skin.

The Cedar Hemp Body Rub uses (in addition to the basic ingredients) a splash of castor oil and a generous dose of hemp seed oil which is rich in vitamins and holds anti-ageing properties. One of the omega-6 fatty acids in hemp oil is a powerful anti-inflammatory while simultaneously encouraging skin growth and fresh cell generation. It helps calm irritation on the skin.

And not to be missed, the Beard Wax with invigorating tea tree oil. Beeswax is ideal for grooming and taming the beard. Someone once complained we only do personal care products for women!
